The Qualifying Examination (QE) was designed and developed exclusively for the PAVE Program. It is intended to assess basic veterinary science knowledge of international veterinary graduates.The QE is Step 3 of the PAVE Program, and must be passed before proceeding to the next step - Clinical Proficiency.
QE Content

Five broad content areas are
represented:
1) anatomy
2) physiology
3) pharmacology
4) microbiology
5) pathology

PAVE Application Fee: $250

Qualifying Examination Fee: $800 |

The QE is offered three times per year, in January, May and September. The online application will be available one month prior to the application deadline.

Candidates for Pathway 1 of PAVE certification must pass the QE before they begin their 4th year of veterinary school (IF they want to use their 4th year to count towards the clinical requirement of PAVE).
If candidates have already graduated from an unaccredited vet school or are currently in their clinics at an accredited veterinary college, they may take Pathway 2 of the PAVE Program, which requires passing the Veterinary Clinical Skills Assessment (VCSA) following the successful completion of the QE.
