Board Basics & Beyond is an interactive training session designed with the new board member or executive director in mind. Participants acquire knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their regulatory role. This seminar is ideal for individuals new to their position or those wishing to learn more about being a regulator.

By attending Board Basics & Beyond, you'll walk away with a better understanding of the following:

Registration is open December 11, 2018 - March 5, 2019. Registration is open to Member Board Executive Directors, Member Board members, and Member Board staff.

$250 USD Investment by Member Board - all other reasonable expenses (i.e. transportation, lodging, food, etc) are covered by the AAVSB.

When and Where

The next training will be held at the InterContinental Hotel – Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri, from April 5 - 6, 2019. Travel in April 4, travel home April 7.

  • Is everyone a public member?
  • What is the definition of a veterinarian?
  • Does 'shall' mean 'may'?
  • What constitutes a quorum?
  • How/Who determines what education is necessary for licensure?
  • What is a conflict of interest? Why is it important?
