Jurisprudence (SPA) Exam

The AAVSB offers State & Provincial Assessments for jurisdictions in North America. Jurisprudence exams are standardized tests used to evaluate regulatory knowledge. Additionally, these exams are specific to the state or province, testing the individual on a number of considerations, including but not limited to:

  • Ethical considerations
  • Legal obligations
  • Client-patient relationship
  • State or Providence-specific laws governing veterinary medicine
  • Local licensing statutes and regulations

The AAVSB offers State & Provincial Assessments for the jurisdictions below.

Participating jurisdictions will notify the AAVSB once you are eligible.

  • Once you’re considered eligible, the AAVSB will email you a link to pay for your exam. After payment, your receipt will include the link to take the exam.
  • Thereafter, you will need to use the name and email address provided by the jurisdiction to set up your login.
  • Submit the SPA Accommodations Application and required documents. After that, the AAVSB will review all accommodation requests in accordance with current ADA guidelines.
  • If you previously sent an accommodations application for the VTNE (reviewed by the AAVSB) please email SPA Accommodations to determine your next steps.
