The AAVSB Leadership & Governance

The AAVSB Board of Directors, elected by appointed voting Delegates, address key association issues during the Annual Meeting & Conference. Additionally, the Board of Directors is primarily responsible for the governance of the organization. Furthermore, committees and task forces play a vital role in shaping and driving the programs and services of the AAVSB.

On June 22, 2026, the AAVSB announced the retirement of James Penrod, CEO, effective July 31, 2027. The AAVSB Board of Directors has initiated a comprehensive leadership transition process, including the appointment of a Search Committee. Additionally, a CEO Transition Plan page has been created to track important milestones and give Member Boards, Allied orgs, and others, the chance to weigh in as the search proceeds.
